Garmin Edge 520 GPS Bike Computer Review

I can hear your saying, oh no not another Garmin. There must be a reason why they feature so much and why we have a Garmin Edge 520 GPS Bike Computer Review.

What separates this Garmin from the other Garmin’s we have featured? Lets take a look at the Garmin Edge 520 GPS Bike Computer.

Features

One of the main differences with this Garmin from maybe the last is the price. A lot cheaper from the Edge 1000 but doesn’t lose out on any features.

I wont mention the usual features, you know the ones you get distance time all the features a cycling computer should have.

Different Features

What makes this different? The Garmin Edge 520 GPS computer allows you to connect via Bluetooth for live tracking, automatic uploads, smart notifications, send an receive courses and allows social media sharing as well as weather updates.

Challenge Yourself

Like a challenge when your out on the bike? This computer connects with Strava to allow for live tracking and in ride challenges.

Incidents

More than that though is the excellent incident detection capabilities. When an incident is detected by your Garmin Edge 520, this feature will automatically provide your emergency contacts with your current location via your compatible smartphone.

Not in the budget range when it comes to price but for the price you do get a lot of features.

Live Updates

I do think that the live updates and segment feature is excellent for the serious cyclist. To see how your doing in training as your riding along will help you to improve.

Some might say the price is too high, but you know in life you get what you pay for.  You certainly do with the Garmin Edge 520.

Who is the Garmin Edge 520 GPS Bike Computer for?

To make the use out the Garmin Edge 520 you would be better being the type of rider who spends a lot of time out on the road. So more than 1 hour rides.

Final Thoughts

This was a Garmin Edge 520 GPS Bike Computer Review. Yes its another Garmin in our GPS reviews but they are an excellent choice in cycling GPS Computers.

The big difference you will notice with this cycling computer is the price.  It is a lot higher than othe GPS computers. But with added features like incident detection its not surprise.

You never know when incident detection will be needed so don’t ignore the Garmin Edge 520 GPS Bike Computer.
